What exactly is a blog?

Is it an online diary... that seems a bit scary, I don't need the world to know all my inner thoughts?

A random stream of consciousness as I go through my daily life, that could also be scary depending on the day I am having.

So what is the purpose of the blog if you know the entire online community, yes all 1.5 billion people surfing the net could read this. Now the probability of that happening is very, very small, and if I really wanted to figure it out I could but that is fairly pointless and I'm just not interested in doing it as it would require me to come up with a hypothesis, determine the r2 along with an overall estimation of population size and then do an actual survey and stastical analysis... BORING... I'm not an actuarial for a reason.

Not that I hate stats, I would just rather hire someone to do the work and I interpret what it means. Interpretation and action based on the results is much more fun, in my humble opinion. AND since I don't plan on paying anyone for the above research it's not going to happen and in the end I don't really care who reads this or not.

SO, you then have to ask why blog... pure and simple EGO. Knowing that people that you have no intention of ever getting to know will read something of yours makes you feel cool and important. That, my friend (not really), is a SAD state of affairs.
